The foundation was named after German writer Heinrich Böll (1917–1985). حملت المؤسسة اسم الكاتب الألماني هاينريش بول (1917–1985).
The German translation appeared before the Arabic original (published by the Lebanese chapter of the Heinrich Böll Foundation), which she had to rework to adapt to Arabic idiom. وقد ظهرت الترجمة الألمانية قبل الأصل العربي (الذي نشره الباب اللبناني لمؤسسة هاينريش بول)، وقد قامت بإعادة صياغتها لتلائم اللغة العربية.
In an interview with Heinrich Böll Stiftung Middle East, he commented on the demographic imbalance between foreigners and citizens in Qatar, claiming that rulers benefit from this imbalance. في مقابلة مع مؤسسة هاينريش بول الشرق الأوسط علق على الخلل الديموغرافي بين الأجانب والمواطنين في قطر مدعيا أن الحكام يستفيدون من هذا الخلل.
The Iranian judiciary, which is often described as dominated by anti-reformist "conservatives," condemned the Conference as "organised by the `Zionists` who controls Germany’s Green Party to which is affiliated the Heinrich Böll Institute" that organised the conference. أدان القضاء الإيراني، الذي يوصف دائمًا بأنه يسيطر عليه "المحافظون" المعادون للإصلاحيين، المؤتمر باعتبار "أن من قام بتنظيمه هم الصهاينة الذين يديرون حزب الخضر الألماني الذي يتبعه معهد هنريك بول" الذي قام بتنظيم المؤتمر.
